SERIO Roles: Antonia (Tales of Hoffmann)

Bio

Theresa Kesser made her SERIO debut in 2025 portraying Antonia in Tales of Hoffmann. Prior to that she covered the title role in Resonance Works’ Anna Bolena and performed as Giannetta (L’elisir d’amore) for the Southern Illinois Music Festival. In 2023, she sang the title role in Marble City Opera's production of Kamala Sankaram's The Infinite Energy of Ada Lovelace and covered the title role in Richard Strauss’ Salome at Southern Illinois Music Festival, marking her transition to the soprano repertoire. Ms, Kesser has appeared as a soloist with Salt Marsh Opera and Cleveland Opera Theater. In collaboration with Yale Opera and Houston Grand Opera, she participated in the first workshop of The Snowy Day. Earning her Master of Musical Arts in Opera at the Yale School of Music, she performed Paula (Florencia en el Amazonas), Larina (Eugene Onegin), and Miss Todd (The Old Maid and the Thief). She has been a Studio Artist with Wolf Trap Opera for two seasons and performed as a soloist with the National Symphony Orchestra. Other recent roles include der Komponist (Ariadne auf Naxos), Berta (Il barbiere di Siviglia), and Meg (Falstaff) among others. Ms. Kesser holds additional degrees from Indiana University and the University of Denver. She has received awards from the Musical Merit Foundation of San Diego, La Jolla Symphony, and Loren L. Zachary Competitions as well as from the Metropolitan Opera National Council Auditions at both the district and regional level.
