SERIO Roles: Spalanzani/Frantz/chorus (Tales of Hoffmann)

Bio

Jeffrey Gross tenor, directed his attention to teaching the past decade. While he still performs regularly in the chorus with Pittsburgh Opera, and with Voces Solis, his role of teaching chorus and orchestra at Shady Side Academy has become his main focus. Prior to that, Jeff enjoyed performing varied roles with Microscopic Opera, Undercroft Opera, Pittsburgh Savoyards, Quantum Theatre, Opera Theatre of Pittsburgh, and the Theatre Factory. Some of his favorite roles have been Nanki-Poo in The Mikado, Count Almaviva in The Barber of Seville, and Farmer Bunce in The Fantastic Mr. Fox. Jeff relishes the chance to be ridiculous on stage, and he is thrilled for this opportunity to play Spalanzani and Frantz again eighteen years after he performed it with Undercroft Opera. He finds playing an older man with hearing loss comes much easier at this stage of life.
